Background:
Cub Scout Pack 940 meets at Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, NC. As of March 2009, we have been chartered for 34 years. We are one of the largest cub scout packs in the area, with about 100 boys in our Pack. The whole pack meets on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7PM.
Mission:
Our goal is to have fun, with a purpose. We are guided by the 12 core values of cub scouting.
Dens and den meetings: The Pack is divided into smaller groups of 6 to 12 boys which are all in the same grade. These smaller groups are called Dens. The den leader is an adult that plans the den activities, drawing on the experience of other parents in the den. Every den needs at least one assistant den leader!
Each den works on activities which are appropriate for that age group.
1st grade: Tiger Cubs
2nd grade: Wolf
3rd grade: Bear
4th grade: Webelos I
5th grade: Webelos II
Dens generally meet each week on Monday or Tuesday at 7PM. The den leader will provide a schedule.
Pack meetings: The whole pack meets on the third Tuesday of each month, at 7PM. Scout uniform is expected.
The idea is for boys to work on their badges and have fun in their weekly den meetings. Then at the monthly pack meeting we let the kids show off what they have been working on in their dens, and we recognize their accomplishments with awards and badges. The cubmaster runs/organizes the Pack meetings.

Communication:
Communication is very important in a large pack, such as 940. Newsletters are distributed at each pack meeting. We also use emails to communicate. To sign up for the email list, send an email to pack940@gmail.com.

Costs and fundraising:
No child should have to miss out on scouting due to money. If you need assistance in order for your child to participate, please talk with your den leader, the cubmaster, or the committee chair.
Approximate Costs:
� Registration is $10 (Boy's Life magazine is an additional $12).
� Cub Scout handbook is $5 (Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos)
� Uniform is $45. (The pack also has some previously used uniforms available at no cost)
� Activity costs vary from free to $50 per event.
Our pack has one fundraising event each year (around October), where the cub scouts sell popcorn. This fundraiser pays for awards and reduces the cost of activities.
